SCRs were initially used as export lines on fixed platforms. SCRs clearly have
similarities with free-hanging flexible risers, being horizontal at the lower end
and generally within about 20 degrees of the vertical at the top end. In this
arrangement, the riser forms an extension of the flowline that is hung from the platform in a simple catenary. For relative angularĀ movement between the riser and platform a flexjoint, stress joint, and pull tube could be used to offset the movement.
